So actually it was and three months after the release, the streaming service announced that it had renewed Outer Banks for a season 2 . Although this news dates back to July 2020, creator and showrunner Jonas Pate had previously revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he had already planned more chapters for the series:
Since we started, we’ve been thinking about four to five seasons for the show, certainly at least four. I hope I really have a chance to tell these stories.
Pate also added that before the Outer Banks debut, Netflix had already given the green light to write season 2 . Fan support was undoubtedly essential. Even the series has taken home a People’s Choice Award for the title that most of all deserves to be binge-watch.
Outer Banks 2 season when it comes out
At this point, when does Outer Banks season 2 come out? Netflix has scheduled the release date for July 30, 2022, as reported in the video teaser that you find in the queue. Before the announcement, we already knew it would be this summer, as announced on social media. The new chapter officially entered production at the beginning of September 2020 and the shooting ended in the first days of April 2022.
Whenever possible, the Big N tries to keep a gap of about a year between the release of one season and the next. From March 2020, however, the platform also has to deal with the coronavirus emergency, which has forced it in the past months to postpone several releases, including for example Stranger Things 4 . It was therefore not possible to have the episodes already in April, as for the first chapter.
