HBO Max is the second paid streaming content platform with the most subscribers in the world, only surpassed by Netflix. The annual subscription for this service is 69.99 euros and the monthly 8.99. According to the cybersecurity company ESET, some cybercriminals claim to offer these services for only 2 euros a year to try to attract their victims. With the premiere of ‘The house of the dragon’, there are many users who are interested in HBO Max. However, the price can be high for certain Internet users and the 2 euros per year seems like a very interesting offer to take into account.
Cybercriminals present this supposed option via email. In the message, they provide a link that redirects to a web page that falsely informs that users have been randomly selected to participate in a survey and obtain the subscription for a reduced price. The technique is not the first time that it has been used to access bank details of victims. In this particular case, the victims are not giving the information to HBO Max but to cybercriminals and, despite promising a cost of 2 euros, the amount they make is greater than expected.
The fine print reports the true amount of the alleged offer.ESET
By reading the fine print on the web, you can read that the money is going to a company that has nothing to do with the streaming service. In addition, they warn that the plan it actually costs 42.95 euros every 28 days subscription to HBO Max is not guaranteed.
