Good Omens 2 season is done: previews, release, and streaming of the new episodes of the Amazon series, based on the novel by Neil Gaiman.

On Monday, June 28, 2022, Amazon surprised everyone by announcing a new chapter for the TV series Good Omens. Born as a miniseries, it should have ended with the first season and by now everyone assumed that there would be no new episodes. Neil Gaiman had been quite thorough on the subject in 2019, after the debut of the debut chapter, as reported by IGN :
We’ve all seen a six-hour movie. It is complete, unlike American Gods [Amazon Prime series based on another Gaiman novel] which is still a third of the way through the book. At the time, director Douglas Mackinnon also stated that the series was something complete, with a well-defined beginning, middle, and end.
However, it was Amazon who did not agree. On the occasion of the Television Critics Association summer press tour in July 2019, Vernon Sanders, one of the heads of the TV division of Amazon Prime Video, said that Good Omens could continue with a season 2. The studio was absolutely interested in taking the project forward. It all depended on Neil Gaiman alone.
We are fortunate to still be in partnership with Neil. We were extremely satisfied with the results of the first season. It’s all about seeing if we can revisit that world. It’s up to Neil, but we’d love to be able to do it. It will probably take some time in Neil’s case. But whatever he wants to do, we are interested.
These are the words of Sanders, reported by Deadline. Apparently, the studio and Gaiman have reached an agreement. The author of the novel, in fact, returns as co-showrunner with Douglas Mackinnon, after having collaborated on the screenplay with John Finnemore.
Good Omens 2 season release date
Despite the good news, Amazon has not yet announced the release date of the Good Omens 2 season. What we can tell you, however, is that production will start in Scotland later, but always by 2022. We should, therefore, be able to see the new episodes in the course of 2022. As soon as we have more detailed information, we will update you.
