On the night of this Sunday, 27, the SAG Awards 2022 takes place, an important award in Hollywood, promoted since 1995 by two unions: the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). Therefore, in addition to contemplating the best films and series from the previous year, it is an excellent thermometer for the oscar – this year, with a ceremony scheduled for March 27. Even better than the Golden Globes, as all the SAG Awards categories are linked to acting. And the panel of judges for this award is made up of actors who are members of the SAG-AFTRA foundation, many of them members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, who choose the winners of the coveted golden statue. That is, Oscar winners in acting categories are chosen by actors who also vote at the SAG Awards. Therefore, in most cases, the winners coincide in the two awards. In 2022, the best actor nominees for the SAG Awards are Javier Bardem (Being the Ricardos), Benedict Cumberbatch (Attack of the Dogs), Andrew Garfield (Tick, Tick… Boom!), Will Smith (King Richard: Raising Champions) and Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth), exactly the same ones who received an Oscar nomination. Among the actresses in the SAG are Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter), Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos), Lady Gaga (Casa Gucci) and Jennifer Hudson (Respect). At the Oscars, instead of Lady Gaga and Jennifer Hudson, the nominees are Kristen Stewart (Spencer) and Penélope Cruz (Parallel Mothers).
