Bad news for Idris Elba (50 years old), Tom Hardy (45) and probably Henry Cavill (39): the producers of the “James Bond” saga are looking for an actor for the next 10-12 years. Craig in “007: No Time to Die”, the decisions about the future will pass mainly by two people: Barbara Broccoli and her half-brother Michael Wilson, who are in charge of Eon Productions, the production company of the films since 1962 and that maintains a “family” company, safe from any acquisition. In statements at the end of August only now revealed by Variety magazine, the producers said that it is “in the early days” and that the search for Daniel Craig’s successor to to play the world’s most famous spy. The fan favorite appeared to be Idris Elba, but the actor has recently made statements interpreted as putting himself out of the running. To Variety, the producers said they hadn’t spoken to Elba recently, but between several compliments, say “The point is, it’s going to be a two-year break,” said Barbara Broccoli, repeating old statements that production on a new film won’t move forward until 2024. “And when we choose Bond, it’s about of a 10-12 year commitment.
